The Beast Of Akune (The Kannazuki Series Book 1)

Dark Fantasy 'game of thrones' style light novel. Kannazuki, book 1, is the english translation of a Japanese 'best selling' manga series that combines eastern and western style fantasies into a humorous romp. Ultimately it serves as a sort of 'reverse heroes journey' through a medieval world and pokes fun at common architypes. The characters are deep an believable and the artwork is amazing. A shortcoming could be said to be that the series is far too short, with each light novel coming in between 150 to 200 pages. The story itself is quite compelling, however collecting and reading each one can become quite expensive. Additionally, a lot of people might be curious as to how good a job they did translating these books from Japanese and that is a genuine concern. However, the publisher has worked hard to keep it as close to the source material as possible.
